Well, winter is almost over & the trees & plants are blooming! I don’t know
about you but I’ve been checking out the veggies & herbs. To my surprise
there are already some available. And, you are probably getting ready for a
new season of shows. So I thought I would see how I can help you with your
new material.

I still have coasters, garden flags, glass nail files & cutting boards. Some
of the new items, several kinds of placemats, pillows, & compacts are
available. They will also be new to me for printing. The silk printing is
beginning to pick up so you might want to consider that. If you have
question about doing that let’s sit down & see what we come up with.

NEW FOR MARCH & APRIL: ANY SIZE PRINT ON CANVAS OR WATERCOLOR PAPER WILL BE
15 % OFF

I don’t know if you are aware that Clear Bags in El Dorado Hills
carries dbl mats at an extremely good price. If you don’t want to buy a
quantity I frequently have the backer boards, mats & plastic sleeves here. I
would be happy to give you a good price on them.

It has recently come to my attention that many painters & artists in other
media are not familiar with the world of textiles.I have just taken it for
granted that if you are an artist you must be at least a little aware of
what that involves. So I am taking it on myself to help acquaint you some of
the different processes. The world of textiles includes a huge variety of
methods & materials. Some processes are fairly easy & others require many
stages to get to the finished product.

Some textile are made by knitting, crocheting, clothing & costume design,
quilting, paper, various techniques using many kinds of dyes. In fact, did
you know that by using mushrooms & mordants you can create every shade in
the rainbow? I have used some of the wool I dyed with mushrooms in my
needle-woven wall pieces.

Working with paper is fascinating! Paper can be spun into a “yarn” and woven
with cotton yarn to make clothing. In Japan many years ago the peasants made
paper work clothes because when it got wet it dried very quickly. Paper can
be made from many different fibers. And then it can be made into sheets,
cast into molds, torn up & used in paper mache or used in mixed media. Quite
a versatile material! And, here is a different process. This weekend I made
a sheet of silk paper! It was really fun. The silk paper can be used in a
variety of art pieces. Come by & I’ll show it to you. That could be an
interesting workshop!

Next week we will be going into production of pepper jelly! Remember if you
bring the jars back you get a $1 discount! So just let me know how many you
would like! They make a great gift because people never get enough! What a
product!!

QUESTION I am planning to do a papermaking workshop. I’ll show you
different ways you apply the paper. Not sure of the exact date but I would
like to know who might be interested. I have all the equipment so the
materials list would be small. If you have questions about the workshop
please call: Carol at 916 844-4601.

Thanks again for your support. I look forward to working with you on new
projects using old & new materials!
